Male-Identified explores the harmony and the unease of social perception towards others’ self-expression, in this case specifically related to men/maleness. Using a triptych choreographic form, this fifteen-minutes performance uses three different “costumes” and three varied gestural scores, each sourced and composed through observation of seemingly male-identified public, to contemplate about the idea of gender and criteria for the "normal." Presented at Ray Warren Multicultural Symposium at Lewis and Clark College in Portland OR in November 2011. |
