Approaches to Hollow Center is a dance portion of the multimodal project Hollow Center, exploring ideas of erasure/nothingness and existence/being. This dance and its choreography arises from deep philosophical yet interpersonal dialogues between the performers through exchanges of writings and physical exploration in the studio. At each iteration, Yamamoto finds a local duet partner of diaspora to work with for a week before the presentation, constantly evolving and changing its artistic trajectory with new perspectives. Together, they approach the dynamic relationship of nothingness and being as a constantly shifting condition.
